SAN ANTONIO • Marianist Brother Dennis Bautista professed perpetual vows in the Society of Mary during a Eucharist at Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel on the campus of St. Mary’s University on Oct. 24.

Brother Brian Halderman, SM, gave the introduction. Father James Fitz, SM, presided at the Mass. Provincial Stephen Glodek, SM, received the vows and gave a reflection. Brother Charles Johnson, SM, served as master of ceremonies.

Approximately 200 Marianist family members, relatives and friends attended the Mass, which included traditional Hawaiian chants, prayers and songs. A reception followed at the University Center on the campus of St. Mary’s.

Brother Dennis, who is originally from ‘Ewa Beach, Hawai’i, earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Chaminade University of Honolulu and a master’s degree in communications and a doctorate in interdisciplinary intercultural communication from Washington State University.

During his second year of novitiate, he worked in communications and vocation development for the Marianist Provincial Office in St. Louis. He professed first vows in May 2006.
